From time immemorial, mankind has found companionship in animals. A strong bond is created, especially with the young animals, which often display an endearing dependence on their human foster-parents. Dogs are prized for their life-long "loyalty" and "intelligence". Birds of all sizes also make interesting, albeit less common pets: the condor shown here is an extreme case, seldom seen at close quarters.
