Martin Gusinde was a Silesian-born priest and ethnologist who studied the natives of Tierra del Fuego during the years 1918-1924, when they were fast on the road to extinction. The groups whose distribution appears on this map are (modern names in parentheses): alacaluf (qawasqar), yagan (yamana) and ona (selknam).
