Cerro Guido, Última Esperanza

This house stands on high ground,
above the other ranch buildings, dominating the plain below, and
with long views to the Paine massif in the west. Notice the sun-gallery
on the lea side of the house (nearest to the camera), which also
serves as a porch to control draughts. Picket fences were a characteristic
feature: these are especially elegant.
Since the date of this photo, trees have been planted and these
now provide a partial barrier against the cold westerly winds.
